Student of the Day
November 2 – November 5
- There are many candidates for Student of the Day from both soccer squads who won gold medals on Saturday. Since they are too numerous to mention, let’s just say congratulations (especially to senior players who won’t be returning to defend their gold medals) and well done to all players, specifically the ones which Coffin is lucky to see on a daily basis in Canadian History 621, English 621, and English 521. Two years in a row…not too shabby…
October 30
- Afton McInnis gets today’s Student of the Day award for a couple of reasons. First of all, she did an outstanding job preparing the slide show for yesterday’s pep rally (in fact, the entire Leadership class deserves a pat on the back for a job well-done). Secondly, Afton has displayed a willingness to learn and improve her work in English 621.
October 29
- Although it is difficult to pick just one Student of the Day from yesterday’s big senior women’s soccer game, we here at coffinblog are awarding today’s award to keeper Kelcy McNally who very calmly stopped all shots that came her way during the game. Additionally, she is a very strong student in English 621 and should be recognized. Honorable mention goes to the rest of the squad also in Coffin’s classes. Congratulations on the big win.
October 28
- JD Farrell is today’s worthy recipient of the Student of the Day award. Combined with his efforts on the soccer field and around the school, JD has been doing very well in English 521 and wrote an outstanding Remembrance Day poem for the annual Legion contest…plus, his dad gave me $5.00 to make him Student of the Day.
October 27
- Aside from being a heck of a nice guy and all-around athlete, today’s Student of the Day – Dillon Doucette – is also a very good all-around student, combining excellent schoolwork (especially in History 621) with soccer, cross country, and many other extracurricular activities.
October 26
- Our first Student of the Day of this last week of October goes to Rachel Burke, who has been performing quite well in English 521 this year. In addition to preparing a very good poetry explication, Rachel has completed her Remembrance poem ahead of schedule. She does all this while maintaining a busy volleyball schedule as well.
October 23
- Today’s Student of the Day has been awarded to Matthew MacInnis for his excellent work to date in English 621. He also performed quite well with today’s public speaking activities, becoming responsible for his class’s early exit to lunch today telling a great homework story.
October 22
- Brittany DeCourcey takes home today’s Student of the Day award for her good work to date in English 521, her good humor both in and out of the classroom, and her ability to successfully juggle her school and extra-curricular activities (she also juggles burning chainsaws, but only on weekends).

September 14
- The first SOD of this week has been given to the deserving Daniel MacAdam, who has found his way into Coffin’s English 521. Daniel has been quietly going about his business and doing good work so far. Also, he taught us a very valuable alliterative lesson today: Red Right Return. Don’t forget it…especially if you’re reading this on your boat.
September 11
- Our final SOD award-winner for the first week of school is Cody McInnis who not only provided the most fascinating Canadian history fact in our discussion this week, but who also has been very consistent asking and responding to questions in both English and history.
September 10

In fact, she has already responded to this week’s Canadian History 621A discussion question. Welcome to Morell High, Ashley.
September 9
- Today’s SOD award goes to Daniel Hughes, who is making his first appearance in a Coffin class in his high school career. Daniel gets today’s award (and a free haircut from Justin Coffin’s new shop) for biking to school today when it would have been easier to perhaps stay home.
September 8
- Brodie Burke takes home today’s SOD award since he was kind enough to help Coffin demonstrate the ever-popular rule: if you chew gum, so does Coffin. For his efforts, Brodie will receive a bag of mixed vegetables from Skeeter’s Produce Emporium.
